Bredgar Parish Council supporting Five Parishes Group

We Need Your Help! Please sponsor our chairman or join our walks - see below!!

The Highsted Park planning inquiry isn’t over yet. It will resume on 2nd October for 12 more days of hearings before closing at the end of the month. The Five Parishes Group has already raised major concerns about the scheme’s viability — evidence shows the developers may be short by £150 million, leaving insufficient money to build the vital roads and motorway junction required before any houses can be sold, or to fulfil delivery of service improvements or other mitigations that are being promised now. For more details see our leaflet or this Sittingbourne.me - blog.

Whatever the final outcome Five Parishes Group presence at the Inquiry is making sure that local community concerns about the Highsted Park planning applications are raised - we are making a real difference by being there!

Because the Inquiry has been extended, our legal and expert costs are rising. Thanks to your support, £60,000 has already already — but we urgently need up to £15,000 more to finish the fight.

Please support "Walk the Five Parishes"

A fundraising event that will take place on Sunday, 28th September. The event will include a 15-mile sponsored walk, as well as shorter community walks, through our beautiful local countryside — which will be irreparably blighted by the proposed Highsted Park development.

Please come and enjoy the walks with us! Your participation will help us raise much needed funds to keep fighting against Highsted Park at the Planning Inquiry. Walking with us also gives you a chance to appreciate, enjoy and raise awareness of the incredible landscapes, habitats and heritage at threat.

More details about the event and how you can take part will be published on the Five Parishes website, Five Parishes & Bredgar Facebook Groups, here on the Bredgar Parish Council website, noticeboards and in Bredgar Post Office (see below).

Brian Clarke, chairman of our Parish Council hopes to fund raise at least £500 by walking the full 15 miles with modest sponsorship by as many people as possible. He supports planning by the democratic Local Plan but not the speculative application Highsted Park .
